Program Structure & Registration

Classes are clearly labeled as IB and MYP (Middle Years Programme) in course catalogs and schedules. IB courses are integrated across six subject areas:

  • Studies in Language and Literature
  • Language Acquisition
  • Individuals and Societies
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • The Arts

When registering for courses, look for the IB or MYP designation in the course title or description.

MYP (Grades 9-10): There is no additional cost to participate in the Middle Years Programme at Loveland High School.

DP (Grades 11-12): The Diploma Programme has minimal costs for IB exam fees, which are optional for students taking individual IB courses but required for those pursuing the full IB Diploma.

💡 Financial Assistance:

Families experiencing financial hardship should contact the DP Coordinator to discuss potential assistance options for exam fees.

No, students need to opt into the Diploma Programme. Completing the MYP does not automatically enroll you in the DP.

We offer several pathways to serve individual student needs:

  • Full IB Diploma: Complete all DP requirements for the IB Diploma
  • IB Course Certificates: Take individual IB courses without pursuing the full diploma
  • Other Pathways: Students may choose AP courses, concurrent enrollment, or standard courses

Students interested in the DP should express their interest during sophomore year and work with their counselor to plan their course selection.

The Diploma Programme begins in the first semester of 11th grade.

This is a two-year program that must be started at the beginning of junior year. Students cannot begin the DP mid-year or in senior year.

⏰ Important Timeline:

Students should apply and register for the DP during their sophomore year to ensure proper course placement for junior year.

No additional forms are required. Students are automatically integrated into the MYP when they enroll in courses at Loveland High School.

Simply register for your courses through the normal registration process, and select MYP-designated courses in your areas of interest.

  • AP: Primarily depends on one final exam

Learning Approach:

  • IB: Very student-centered and inquiry-based with focus on critical thinking
  • AP: More traditional teaching methods focused on content mastery

Program Structure:

  • IB: Full diploma requires specific courses across all subject areas plus core requirements
  • AP: Students can take individual courses without a cohesive program requirement
