Supporting Diverse Learning Needs

The ESS program at Loveland High School is dedicated to providing individualized instruction, accommodations, and resources to help every student achieve academic, social, and personal success.

 

 Our Mission

The ESS team collaborates with students, families, and educators to create personalized learning plans that address each student's unique strengths and challenges. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that promotes growth, independence, and lifelong learning.

What is the ESS Program?

The ESS program is designed to support students with disabilities by providing specialized instruction and services tailored to meet their individual needs. Our goal is to help students overcome obstacles to learning and reach their full potential in both academic and non-academic settings.

📋Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)-Customized plans that outline specific goals, accommodations, and services for each student

🔧504 Plans-Accommodation plans for students with disabilities to ensure equal access to education

🚀Transition Planning-Support for students preparing for life after high school, including higher education, employment, and independent living

  • What do Students Do in ESS?
Academic Support

Specialized academic support designed to help students strengthen foundational skills and achieve success in their coursework.

Academic Services Include:

  • Specialized instruction in core subjects such as math, reading, and writing
  • Small group and one-on-one instruction tailored to individual learning styles
  • Assistance with organization, time management, and study skills to build independence
  • Support with homework and assignments to ensure understanding
  • Progress monitoring and regular assessment to track growth
Behavioral Support

Comprehensive behavioral support services to help students develop positive behaviors and social-emotional skills.

Behavioral Services Include:
  • Development of positive behavior plans that promote success in school
  • Social skills training to build interpersonal communication abilities
  • Counseling and emotional support services for mental health and wellbeing
  • Crisis intervention and support during difficult situations
  • Collaboration with families to ensure consistency between home and school
Life Skills & Transition

Preparing students for independence and success after high school through practical life skills and transition planning.

Life Skills & Transition Services Include:

  • Instruction in daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care
  • Job coaching and career readiness training for employment success
  • Assistance with college and vocational planning for post-secondary education
  • Career exploration activities including internships and job shadowing
  • Independent living skills preparation for adult life
  • Community integration opportunities and resources
Accomodations & Modifications

Individualized accommodations and modifications to ensure equal access to education and support student success.

Available Accommodations & Modifications:

  • Extended time on tests and assignments for processing and completion
  • Preferential seating and reduced distractions in the classroom
  • Use of assistive technology such as text-to-speech and speech-to-text tools
  • Modified curriculum as needed to meet individual learning goals
  • Alternative assessment formats to demonstrate knowledge
  • Note-taking support and visual aids for comprehension
  • Frequent breaks and flexible scheduling when appropriate
What do Students Do in ESS?

Students in the ESS program participate in various activities and learning experiences tailored to their individual goals and needs.

Student Activities & Experiences:

  • Academic Tutoring: Receiving targeted instruction to strengthen foundational skills in core subjects
  • Social Skills Groups: Practicing communication and interpersonal skills in a supportive environment
  • Life Skills Training: Learning essential skills for independent living, such as cooking, budgeting, and time management
  • Career Exploration: Exploring job interests and participating in internships or job shadowing opportunities
  • College and Career Planning: Preparing for post-secondary education and employment with the help of transition specialists
  • Collaborative Learning: Working with peers in inclusive settings to build teamwork skills
