World Languages
Loveland High School is proud to offer courses in Spanish, French, and German (each language class offers multiple levels of study including AP). We also offer American Sign Language levels 1&2.
According to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), there are many benefits with learning a new language. These benefits include:
Developing proficiency in other languages broadens career options. Skills in languages other than English make those not bound for postsecondary study more attractive employment candidates in a wide range of careers where communicating with diverse customers is necessary. Good language achievement enhances a student’s college prospects and opens paths for a wider range of college-level fields of study.(source: https://www.actfl.org/advocacy)
See ACTFL Website for more details.
WORLD LANGUAGE DISTINCTION & BILITERACY
LHS students who have excelled in learning another language have the opportunity to be recognized at graduation.
The Thompson School District High School Seal of Biliteracy is a credential for graduating high school seniors who can communicate in the interpersonal, interpretive and presentational modes at the intermediate-mid proficiency range or higher in another language as well as at a high level in English.
WORLD LANGUAGE COURSES
The TSD Courseguide Book is a great resource to use when selecting world language courses. This coursebook will provide the most updated list of courses offered and information about the course itself.
